E. D. Arrington, affectionately called Lois by many, is the
fourth of seven children. She was raised on a farm in rural Greene County, North
Carolina by her grandparents, Tom and Eva Brown Arrington, until their deaths.
After graduating from T. C. Williams High School (school of the Titans) in
Alexandria, Virginia, Arrington pursued her higher education at local colleges
and universities and lived, and worked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area
for twenty-five years before retiring to Wilson, North Carolina, a small town
twenty-three miles from her birthplace.
ISBN: 1420851489 On The Edge is a gripping tale of secrets, suspense, romance, and mystery of
the wealthy set in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Secrets lurked
amongst the small intimate group of family and friends – secrets they hoped and
prayed would never be revealed. But when Jackson Pryce is murdered in the wee
hours on that frosty Christmas morning, the secret he kept about his
investigation of the underground world emerges. Then Jackson’s handwritten notes
fall into the hands of Detective Clay Stephens, his friend and former partner.
Determined to find Jackson’s murderer – no matter where or to whom the road
leads – one by one, Clay shines a light on all of their secrets. Yet, only one
secret would bring all of their fragile worlds crumbling down. Only one secret
would wreak havoc over all of their lives. In time, only one secret would break
through for all to see. It was destined to happen…the only question is when,
where and how?
Paperback: 68 pages Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, W. E.
B. Du Bois, Sojourner Truth, Booker T. Washington, Harriet Tubman, Thurgood
Marshall, Mary McLeod Bethune, and Fredrick Douglass are all names synonymous
with the celebration of African American History; and, each one of them is
deserving of our highest praise. However, in Words Of Comfort,
E. D. Arrington’s first collection of poems and inspirational writings, she
takes the opportunity to pay homage to the least likely of our ancestors. Lest
We Forget…Every Life Counts! emblazoned on a golden scroll on the last page,
bringing a close to this heartfelt book, sums up the theme weaved throughout
this body of work. “Every word,” Arrington says, “was written in tribute to
people, all of whom I cherished. People, none of whose names are famous, or, to
most, not even recognizable. People who possibly never fathomed being placed in
the spotlight of my life…a life that they each helped to shape into the person I
am today. My only hope is that by some small measure, I have made them proud.”
